We spoke with CEO Cheon Byung-min, who has grown the K-Sys Group into one of Korea’s leading display companies based on innovative technology and strong customer trust, to learn about the factors behind the company’s success and its future plans.

 

What prompted you to start the display business?
Since its founding in 2004, K-Sys has been an IT infrastructure specialist providing network consulting, design, and implementation services to numerous clients. By analyzing each client’s current environment, we have delivered customized IT solutions. The turning point came when we received a request to supply video equipment for a client, leading us to provide custom-made digital signage using panels from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. This marked the beginning of our journey into the display business, where we began to actively engage in display design and implementation.
 
Subsequently, the company launched “Kiosco,” a premium kiosk brand, and established itself as a specialist in LCD kiosks by supplying them to a wide range of customers. In response to the paradigm shift in large-screen displays for both indoor and outdoor use, the KSYS Group decided to fully launch its LED display business with the goal of becoming the leader in next-generation displays in Korea.
 
What is the meaning behind “KSYS”?
When we started the business, we believed that, in addition to competitive business offerings, constant communication with customers was the crucial direction our company needed to take. Therefore, to express the convergence of information and communication technology (IT) and customer communication into a single entity, we combined the “I” from “Information” and the “C” from “Communication” to create KSYS, thereby establishing our corporate identity. 
 
What is the secret to your success as a leading display company nationwide?
First, I believe it lies in product research and development that never rests on its laurels. When we first entered the LED display business, we achieved success in the LED market by selling products with a pixel pitch of 10mm or more. However, rather than resting on our laurels, through the efforts of our in-house R&D team and the company’s generous investment in developing high-specification products, we successfully developed a micro-pitch product with a 1mm pixel pitch. We finally launched our LED display brand, ‘LEDot,’ and are now providing customers with a higher-quality experience through our premium LED products.
 
Second is technological innovation through the convergence of software and hardware. Conventional LED display boards had several issues, such as the inability to change content after production and susceptibility to damage from external factors like rain or strong winds. K-Sys Group first standardized its products and secured KC certification to ensure the durability and stability of its LED display panels. Additionally, by developing its own controller that enables content modification, distribution, and management, the company made it more convenient for customers to use the products. We believe that achieving technological innovation through the convergence of hardware and software has served as a catalyst for further growth, setting us apart from competitors in the domestic LED display market with our unrivaled technological capabilities. 
 
Third, I believe it is about thinking from the customer’s perspective. The reason we were chosen by so many clients is that we prioritized the customer’s perspective at every stage, from product development to sales. While running the business, we considered the fundamental question from the customer’s standpoint: “What do customers value and need when purchasing an LED display?” We found that content modification was the key issue. To enhance customer convenience, we enabled real-time, hassle-free content updates via USB and Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for customers to manually update the display one by one. Moving forward, we will not only focus on product competitiveness but also think from the customer’s perspective once more to ensure sincere communication with them.
 
What is the most important thing in running a business?
Without a doubt, it is people and trust. Whether on a large scale—running a business—or on a small scale—selling a product—I believe that every path begins and ends with people. For these processes to be executed flawlessly, we must first cultivate talent within the company and, through this, provide seamless service and products to our customers, thereby sustaining their trust. Currently, the K-Sys Group operates with a team of specialized professionals to ensure systematic workflow, and I, as the CEO, spare no effort in supporting communication and efficient collaboration among employees, regardless of their job titles.
 
What is the current state of the display industry, and what is K-Sys’s growth potential?
It is true that current regulations on outdoor advertising are a constraint on the growth of the display industry. However, as access to video media such as YouTube increases, customers are inevitably exposed to more video content than text-based content. This leads to a demand for high-definition video content, which will ultimately lead to a demand for high-quality displays. In line with this trend, K-Sys Group is focusing on developing high-quality displays through a diverse product lineup and technological innovation, and is expected to achieve even more rapid growth in the domestic display market.
 
What does the future hold for the domestic display market?
There are approximately 3,000 LED display production factories in China, and currently, most domestic companies import these Chinese products and sell them without undergoing the necessary certification processes. These products cannot guarantee stability, and moreover, small-scale companies without proper licenses are unable to provide post-sales maintenance and support for LED displays. Consequently, the domestic market’s attention is expected to focus on high-end displays that offer high-quality video playback, easy maintenance, and exceptional reliability. To meet these market demands, K-Sys Group has secured product safety through KC certification, maintains a dedicated team on standby for post-sales maintenance, and invests heavily in product optimization through its specialized R&D team.
 
Could you introduce K-Sys Group’s premium LED display, the ‘LEDot CUBE Series’?
The LEDot CUBE Series is a premium LED display that embodies K-Sys Group’s technological expertise, featuring high-quality visual performance—such as vibrant colors and high contrast ratios—along with easier installation and simple, rapid maintenance. It enables the rendering of sophisticated content through gamma correction technology and HDR (High Dynamic Range) video playback technology, while ensuring product stability and durability through dual power and signal supply designs and automatic error detection. The premium LED display brand LEDot is expected to lead the domestic premium LED display market with the ‘LEDot CUBE Series,’ which actively reflects the demands of Korean consumers.
 
So far, we have heard from CEO Cheon Byung-min about the reasons behind the company’s success in growing from a small business in Busan into one of Korea’s leading display companies. The vision of K-Sys Group was vastly different from that of other display companies. Because K-Sys Group has always focused on the display industry and its customers, it was able to achieve growth through relentless research and development, and I believe this is the key to CEO Cheon Byung-min’s success.
