K-Sys Co., Ltd. (CEO Cheon Byung-min), a specialist in LED display panels that grew in Busan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) worth 21.9 billion won with the Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) and announced plans to build a smart LED manufacturing cluster worth a total of 35 billion won based on this agreement.
This agreement is part of Busan City’s policy to foster regional innovative companies and promote reinvestment. It is significant in that a company that grew locally is reinvesting in the region to create a virtuous cycle in the industrial ecosystem.
The signing ceremony was held at Busan City Hall on the 15th, with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon and K-Sys CEO Cheon Byung-min in attendance to sign the agreement.
Through this MOU, K-SIS plans to relocate and expand its headquarters to the Eco Delta City area in Gangseo-gu, Busan, and establish a next-generation smart manufacturing hub that integrates manufacturing, logistics, and R&D functions.
The new site spans approximately 3,800 pyeong, where a new headquarters building and an automated factory with a total floor area of over 3,900 pyeong will be constructed. The company plans to introduce automated production lines for Micro LED display panels, aiming to grow into a hub for Micro LED R&D and global exports.
A total investment of 35 billion won will be focused on securing the new site, constructing an integrated office building for manufacturing, logistics, and administration, expanding smart manufacturing infrastructure, recruiting core research personnel, establishing an AI quality inspection system, and introducing eco-friendly production facilities.
K-Sys is the only manufacturer of fine-pitch LED display panels in Korea. It was the first in the country to receive “Innovative Product” and “Excellent Product” certifications from the Public Procurement Service, and has demonstrated its technological and quality competitiveness in the domestic public procurement market by ranking first in the number of procurement contracts, deliveries, and installations for three consecutive years (2022–2024).
This year, the company relocated and expanded its smart automated factory, enabling it to directly produce over 150,000 domestically manufactured LED modules annually. By simultaneously achieving a high domestic production rate for LED display panels and technological self-reliance, it is recognized as an innovative model for the domestic display manufacturing industry.
With this investment as a catalyst, K-Sys plans to achieve sales of 50 billion won within the next three years and 100 billion won within five years, while also pursuing an IPO (Initial Public Offering). Through these efforts, the company aims to accelerate the establishment of a “K-Display Industry Hub” centered on Busan and its entry into global markets. Additionally, the company aims to hire over 100 new smart workforce members, build a network for mutual growth with local partner companies, and realize a Busan-style green and smart manufacturing innovation model.
Chun Byung-min, CEO of K-Sys, stated, “As a company that has grown in Busan, we intend to contribute to Busan’s leap forward as a central city for high-tech manufacturing by reinvesting in the region with the support of the Busan Metropolitan Government.” He added, “Through the ‘Smart LED Manufacturing Cluster’ to be established in Eco Delta City, we will strengthen production efficiency and technological competitiveness and grow into a global listed company leading the next-generation micro-LED era.”
Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, remarked, “K-SIS’s reinvestment, as a company that grew in this region, is a symbolic decision that brightens the future of Busan’s industry,” and added, “Busan City will actively support companies so they can grow innovatively.”
