Digital signage, epitomized by LED billboards, is evolving alongside advancements in display technology. In particular, micro-LED technology offers superior brightness, contrast, and lifespan compared to existing display technologies, while enabling ultra-thin profiles and high resolution. It is considered ideal for high-end applications such as control rooms and large-scale public displays.
■ The Evolution of the Display Market with Micro LED
With the recent emergence of Micro LED and the acceleration of commercialization efforts, it is gaining attention as the next-generation display technology. While conventional LED and OLED currently dominate the market, various research and development initiatives leveraging the advantages of Micro LED are expanding its applications from large-scale to ultra-small-scale display pixel products.
Micro-LEDs are at least one-tenth the size of conventional LEDs. When assembled at the package or panel level, they generate less heat per unit, and because the heat is evenly distributed over a large area, the heat flux is reduced. Additionally, since they utilize only an epitaxial thin film, they offer improved light extraction efficiency.
Industry experts suggest that micro-LEDs, which are less constrained by usage environments, are expected to foster a new ecosystem as an industry led by technology innovators.
As a powerhouse in displays and semiconductors, South Korea possesses the infrastructure necessary for developing high-brightness, high-resolution Micro LED display technology for virtual and augmented reality applications, leading to the analysis that it has ample potential to become a global leader in this industry.
In particular, if small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies that have secured technological competitiveness in micro-LEDs actively lead the market, this is expected to drive not only sales growth but also job creation. Furthermore, if this is combined with technological development to respond to changes in manufacturing processes and the value chain, along with active infrastructure investment, it appears possible for companies to emerge that will attract attention both domestically and internationally.

■Highlighting the 2026 Korea National Procurement Expo
The current state of cutting-edge LED display technology is expected to be showcased at the “2026 Korea National Procurement Expo,” the country’s largest public procurement exhibition, to be held at KINTEX in Ilsan from March 25 to 27.
In particular, K-Sys Co., Ltd. (CEO Cheon Byung-min), a leader in the Korean LED display industry and the first company in the country to have its information display products designated as “Innovative Products” and “Excellent Products,” is drawing significant attention in the public procurement (G2B) market by showcasing core technologies that embody the company’s full R&D capabilities.
The three core technologies K-Sys is showcasing are the △Wireless LED Cabinet, △K-Sys AV Switcher, and △Wired/Wireless Banner-Type LED Display, all based on the company’s in-house SMT production technology.
The most notable innovation is undoubtedly the ‘Wireless LED Cabinet’ technology. Its defining feature is the complete elimination of the complex power and data cables that were previously essential for installing digital signage. By eliminating potential failures caused by faulty cables at the source, maintainability has been maximized, and flexible display configurations are possible, much like assembling building blocks.
Kasis plans to visually demonstrate this hardware innovation through a dynamic automated demonstration at its booth, where a state-of-the-art robotic arm will autonomously assemble the wireless cabinets and instantly display video content.
Additionally, the ‘K-SIS AV Switcher’ will be unveiled for the first time. This is significant as it represents a ‘Korean-style controller’ that is perfectly tailored to the usability needs of practitioners at domestic government offices and public institutions, in a market previously dominated by foreign equipment. It boasts an intuitive UI and excellent compatibility with the company’s own LED display panels.
In addition, the ‘Wired/Wireless Banner-Type LED Display,’ which breaks the constraints of physical space, will be newly showcased. K-Sys’s banner and stand products are available in both wired and wireless types across multiple lineups, allowing for flexible movement and placement tailored to specific uses, thereby providing optimal spatial solutions for government office lobbies and event venues.
Alongside these, an ‘LED Weather Display’ in the form of an electronic banner—equipped with sensors officially approved by the Korea Meteorological Administration—will also be showcased, setting a new standard for the accurate delivery of weather and disaster information to government offices and local authorities.
Furthermore, this exhibition features not only cutting-edge technology but also a wealth of visual attractions. At the front of the booth, a large LED display offering extreme immersion will be combined with spectacular media art to provide visitors with a visual experience unlike any other, and visitors will be able to see the company’s LED TV and outdoor cabinet product lineups all in one place.
Its subsidiary, ‘Eluda Korea,’ will also participate in the booth to enhance synergy. Eluda Korea plans to jointly showcase display solutions optimized for public MAS (Market Access System) in public procurement and industrial settings within the exhibition hall, while providing visitors with in-depth, customized consulting.
K-Sys’s comprehensive innovative technologies and diverse attractions can be experienced firsthand at Booth J53 in Hall 1 of KINTEX.

■“Proving Global Competitiveness Through APEC
Leaping Toward a Global Hub for ‘Micro LED Clusters’”
K-SIS holds a unique position in the domestic display industry. This is because it is the only company in Korea that directly manufactures ‘fine-pitch LED display panels.’
Chun Byung-min, CEO of K-Sys, stated, “Going beyond simple assembly or distribution, our true ‘Made in Korea’ technological capabilities—which involve handling the entire process domestically, from design to production, SMT, assembly, and quality testing—are the driving force behind providing the highest level of trust to our public sector clients.” The impressive distinction of being “the first company in Korea to be simultaneously designated as an Excellent Product and an Innovative Product by the Public Procurement Service in the information display sector” is also a result of this steadfast investment in R&D.
K-Sys’s technological capabilities have already been validated on the global stage.
CEO Cheon Byung-min explained, “Last year, we flawlessly installed a mammoth-scale LED display consisting of 2,229 cabinets and 8,342 LED modules across 15 venues at the APEC event held in Gyeongju,” adding, “Successfully supporting this national event served as a definitive opportunity to demonstrate our overwhelming competitiveness in the global market.”
Now, K-Sys is setting its sights even higher. Building on its competitiveness in the G2B LED display market, the company is targeting the global high-end market and has set its ultimate goal on creating a massive “LED display ecosystem” centered on next-generation Micro LED technology.
To realize this vision, K-Sys is currently constructing a combined factory and office complex on a 3,300-pyeong site within the Busan Eco-Delta City High-Tech Industrial Complex, with an investment of 35 billion won.
CEO Cheon Byung-min stated, “The ‘Micro LED Smart Manufacturing Cluster’ currently being developed in Eco Delta City will serve as a hub encompassing everything from R&D of next-generation core technologies to automated production lines and content solutions such as media art exhibition spaces,” adding, “Our core objective is to complete a proprietary LED display ecosystem through this large-scale investment.”
He further expressed his aspirations, saying, “Based on the creation of an LED ecosystem through the Micro LED Cluster, we will not only firmly lead the paradigm of the domestic display market but also accelerate global exports of K-Display by leveraging our differentiated high-end solutions.”
